Faye Austen-Young BSc (Hons), Ad.Dip.Couns, P.G.Dip.Sup, MBACP (Accred).
 Psychodynamic Counsellor/Psychosynthesis Supervisor

I have a passion for working with diverse people who seek my assistance in their journey of life.  I have a huge amount of respect for those that show courage in taking that first step into therapy which can be daunting and fearful, yet exciting and fulfilling and the path to change. My aim as a therapist is to help you to help yourself overcome past issues and allow you to be your true self that you so rightly deserve.  The outcome of which is to provide you with inner strength to deal with both present and future occurrences in your life.

I have been counselling in various settings for 15 years, which include the LGB & T community, forensic mental health and the mental health charity MIND. In order to keep up with the latest information, I regularly attend workshops, courses and participate in research.

I have experience of working with couples, groups and individuals from the BDSM, S & M, polyamourous and swinging communities.  I have experience of working with lesbians, gay men, bisexual men and women, transvestites, cross dressers and the transgender community pre op and post op MtF and FtM as well as heterosexual individuals and couples. I also have extensive knowledge within the mental health field working as Counselling Manager for MIND.

I am fully insured to carry out therapy and I have an enhanced DBS. As an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, I adhere to a strict code of ethics.  As with any ethical counsellor, I regularly attend supervision where all personal details regarding the client remains anonymous.

Psychodynamic counselling benefits from long term work but it is always up to the client when they choose to end.  It does, however, benefit the client to have at least 2-3 months to work through the ending as this can often bring up past endings which may have been painful.

Counselling is for 50 minutes and benefits from weekly attendance. This will usually be on the same day and time each week.  I offer counselling on a 1:1 basis as well as couple counselling and group therapy.
