Group therapy is an exciting, intense and multi-levelled relational experience. The thought of group therapy can bring fear and anxiety to some people.  However, the benefits of group therapy can be immense.  It is a place where you can learn so much about how you interact with others.  It can show you how other people’s behaviour towards you can tap into past difficult emotions and you can discover new ways of dealing with this in a constructive and helpful manner.  It can bring relief to hear that other people are also struggling.  Contributing and listening to other members can help you.

People in group therapy come from all lines of work, ethnicity, gender, age (over 18), sexuality and belief systems. You will be with a diverse group of people, as individuals who have different views on life can bring about beneficial learning on how to relate to others as relationships are complex. When you join a group, you are often brought together in a manner where you may never have met under normal circumstances, which can bring rich learning within the group. You learn so much about yourself through how you are with others.  Feedback from others can be beneficial and the dynamics within a group can bring about energy and healing.  It can increase confidence and self-esteem as you can find your voice and be empowered.

The Type of Group Therapy

The type of therapy groups that I run are long-term, closed groups.  This means that when they reach the maximum of 6 people, there is a waiting list to join when a space becomes available.  You learn about interpersonal relationships and it is process-orientated.

Fees and Process to Join

The process to join is to meet with me for an initial assessment for a one off fee of £50.  This is where I will find out as much as possible about you by asking you specific questions.  We can also ascertain whether group therapy may be suitable for you.

If you decide to go ahead and join the group, you will need to stay for a minimum of 8 sessions to get a sense of it prior to making a commitment to long term therapy.  As the therapy is open ended, it is up to you to decide when to leave.  This would need to be done carefully and a guideline to work towards an ending would be 1 month per year of being in the group.

The fees are £30 per session (1 and a half hours) to be payable monthly in advance.  As a regular commitment is required, the cancellation policy is 2 weeks in advance or the full fee will be charged.

Please call me if you would like to discuss this further or would like to book an assessment on:  0780 654 2921.
